Biff Cone

“Biff Cone” is a nickname for Beth because it sounds something like “Beth Joan.” But before Beth even came on the scene, biff cone was the Gumnick expression for the last little bit of an ice-cream cone when what’s left is about an inch high. “Biff” was the name of a little troll doll we had—I don’t remember to whom he belonged. So a biff cone was an ice-cream cone of an appropriate size for Biff. All of us enjoyed nibbling away at our ice-cream cones until they were biff cones, then showing them off to one another. The perfect biff cone had a tiny little drop off ice cream perched on top of the tiny little cone. —Ed
