Gard—Can anybody tell where/when this picture might have been taken?

Gard was our first dog, and there couldn’t have been a more perfect pet for a growing family with lots of small children. He was so much more than a pet that most of us considered him to be the child between Jane and Beth in our birth order. He was remarkably gentle and hardly ever barked or snapped, except when engaged in the instinctive act of “herding” children. He’d run circles around us and snap at our heels if we tried to go too far from the herd while playing in our huge front yard in Broomall.

I went searching online for Karelane Kennels and found this guy, who I think might be an ancestor of Gard, or maybe of Shadow. He looks almost exactly like Shad! 

Something that popped into my head yesterday: I seem to recall that Gard was from a litter born on Christmas, and that his kennel parents gave him a Christmas-ey kind of name, like “Snowflake” (only not so goofy). Does anyone remember this, or did I dream it? 

And no, it wasn’t “Santa’s Little Helper.”

Silly girl! Of course, it might just be one of those fake recovered memories…I was only six when Gard became part of our family, after all.
