Quick Pix
From Gumnickopedia
Here’s a super-easy way to add pictures to a page. You don’t even have to upload[1] the images first.
- Click the Embedded Image button
on the toolbar above the editing box.
You’ll get a tag that says:[[Image:Example.jpg]] - Change the image name from “Example.jpg” to whatever name you’d like to give the image, for example:
[[Image:Your_name.jpg]] - Click
.
- You’ll now see a red (broken) link to the image, like this:
Image:Your_name.jpg
Click on the link, which will launch the “Upload file” page. - Notice that MediaWiki has automatically plugged the name you chose into the “Destination filename” box. Now all you have to do is click
and identify the file you want to upload. Add a few words about the image in the “Summary” box if you want. (It’ll help other site visitors find this image when using the search function.) Then click
.
The image file will be uploaded and renamed with the “Destination filename,” and the page on which you placed the photo in the first place will now display the actual image instead of the broken link. At the bottom of the page with the image data, it’ll say, “The following pages link to this file:,” and the name of the page on which you placed your photo will be listed.

Notes
- ↑ If you’ve already uploaded the image, this method still works, but in step 2, you must use the exact file name of the file you uploaded, and you won’t have to bother with steps 4 and 5, because your image will display as soon as you hit
.
