Sibling Torture

John and Ed --> Beth and Jane: Tickle-torture. John? --> Jane: Biting heads off Barbies and other dolls (like Jane's "Angie"-- pronounced AYN-geee, "short" for angel). John and Ed? --> Jane and Beth: Crushing dolls under garage doors. Ed --> Jane and Beth: Making fake "ghosts" on Beth's four poster to scare Jane and Beth. I best remember the cowboy ghost with a playschool figure for a nose. After a while we weren't scared anymore, but we would act like it so Ed would get in trouble. Everyone --> Everyone else, but John and Ed were particularly good at it: Indian burns. We were some mean boys! Would mummification be considered a form of torture? I guess not, because everyone seemed to enjoy it. Remember how we used to mummify each other in blankets? Hairy-brute. Poor Jane. She couldn't help it that she had beautiful blonde furry arms! --Anne Although I had no siblings, my father took care of any teasing I was missing. He called me a "hairy brute" because I, like Jane, had lots of downy hair on my arms. Definitely a Lawler characteristic. --Mom (via Beth) Not sure if this exactly counts as torture, but I remember how Anne had to take us (The Little Girls) with her just about EVERYWHERE she went for a while, which I imagine was torture at times. Her friends nicknamed her "Mother Hen." But to me it is one of the best parts of my childhood memories. Anne, my second mama. |
