Hey Beth! What if we make this page our spot for general ongoing discussion? Since it’s a Talk page, it has the handy-dandy + tab, which lets you add a comment without editing the page itself, so it’s a little more bulletin-board-like than regular pages. Whaddya think?

update from M and D
That sounds good! Did you just read what I put on suggestions then took off again? Or did you just read my mind? I was trying to figure out a way to rephrase what I was trying to suggest, that's why I took it off.
I think I am not very likely to use a discussion board, but somthing like this I would, especially if it is easy to get to (maybe even from the front page). This way we can update each other about stuff without it having to be like a true addition to the site. And every once in a while you could just clear it out.
The main reason this crossed my mind was because I wanted to tell you that I had dinner last night with M and D and we talked about the page and they were really excited about it, particularly Dad. Mom doesn't really get much chance to look at it because their home computer is SO SLOW it takes like 5 minutes for a page to come up on the Internet. I am not even kidding. But Dad has been checking it out on his school computer. I also told them to give me any stories (and pictures of uncles, etc., which will come later on) to put on and I would put them up in their names if they didn't want to fool with putting them on the page.
We talked about other memories and stuff and things they thought of that weren't on there, like running out of gas on some family trip and the 12 pound lobster the Smierciaks had and I don't know what else, I don't remember. Anyway, they are liking it a lot. I told Dad to print a few of the pages off for Mom since she doesn't really get to have computer access that is worth a damn. (and she is computer phobic. Of course if I had THEIR computer I think I would be too.) I wish they would get a new computer. They have (I AM NOT KIDDING) Windows 95!!!!! No shit. The computer itself is slow as Christmas and I don't know much about how to make it faster. I told Dad he needs to get somebody to come and just clean it up for him for $100 or something to get it moving a little faster.
Anyway, that's the latest... I gotta run and do some actual work stuff.

Thanks for the update!
Maybe a few of us should go in on a new computer for them for Christmas. You can buy a fairly whiz-bang new Windoze machine now for about $500, can’t you? But they’re also on dial-up, aren’t they? (Heavy sigh.)
And oh, yeah…
M and D and Christmas
I like the idea of a new comptuer for them for Christmas, except for the fact that many of us are already paying them money for loans and the way they are I think they would be unhappy with us for doing it. No kidding. They really don't like for us to spend much money on them. They need one so desperately though, I wish they would buy one. I was thinking about seeing if they wanted to buy mine, and Rich and I could share his. (We really don't need two. We just happened to have two when we got together. Honestly, I would rather have the space than have two, even though it means sharing (and we all know how much I hate to share.) Another option might tbe to go in on a gift certificate to Best Buy or something, urging them to put it toward a computer. Then they totally would go ahead, but we could get away with giving them maybe a $300 gift card so they wouldn't think we had gone overboard. I don't know, what do you think? We could also combine it with a Dad's Birthday thing or something. (Give them $150 now, $150 at Christmas or something?) I would say combine with Mom's birthday, but she will never use it, so that doesn't really seem fair for her! :-) Anyway, tell me what you think. And what Anne thinks. --B

I’ve added an extension to make an image a clickable link to a page other than the usual page of information about that image. Compare the results of clicking the two images above.
The extension isn’t as full-featured as I might like, but it’s better than nothing.
If you like it and want to use it, paste this code where you want the picture to go:
<linkedimage>
wikipage=
tooltip=
img_src=Image:
img_width=
img_height=
img_alt=
</linkedimage>
The only required parameters are wikipage (the name of the page to which you want to link) and img_src (the name of the image). The width and height parameters are kind of wacky—if you specify only a width in pixels, you’ll get an image that’s the specified width, but the original height. Yeah, that’s useful.
