a.k.a. “Granddad”

 ??–January 28, 1982

Here’s a page at Loyola College that I found by Googling “Thomas J. Lawler.”

Am I right in thinking this must be our Thomas J. Lawler, since Loyola is Mom and Dad’s alma mater?

Yes, this is a scholarship fund that Mom and Dad established after Mommom died with some of the inheritance. I don't recall whether it was Mommom's specific wish or if it was Mom's idea. But I know the scholarship goes to one individual student and it's something like $5,000 each year or so. Mom and Dad have gotten letters of thanks for various students who have received the scholarship.

I just remembered a Granddad memory. It is very vague, and may not even be accurate. I remember being LITTLE and visiting Mommom and Granddad I think, and they wanted me to sleep in a crib, I guess because there was limited bed space, and I didn't want to and Granddad said if I didn't he would have to, and he climbed into the crib and curled up. It upset me greatly for some reason (probably because I was like 3). I don't know what else happened, but that image of Granddad is one that sticks in my mind still, him curled up in the crib.
