Tip: Creating a Tip

From Gumnickopedia

Jump to: navigation, search

To set up a tip, copy and paste the following code next to the item with which you want the tip to be associated:
<linkedimage>
wikipage=Tip: Name
tooltip=Tip!
img_src=Image:bulb_tiny.png
</linkedimage>

Change “Name” to be whatever you want your new tip page to be called, for example, “Tip: Teaching Your Cat to Wiki.” Save the page.

The little light bulb graphic will link to an empty page called “Tip: Teaching Your Cat to Wiki,” where you’ll see the usual “There is currently no text in this page…” prompt. Click the “edit this page” link to start adding text. Paste in this boilerplate code:

{{Tip|
|text=
}}

After “text=,” type the content of your tip. When you’re finished, save the page. The {{Tip}} template will supply the light bulb graphic at the top, the pink box at the bottom of the tip, and the category codes.

Add your new tip to the Site Tips & Tricks page (in alphabetical order).

Click the “Back“ button on your browser to return to the page from which you came.
